The Arts Academy

“The Lord said to Moses, ‘See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft.”

Exodus 31:1-5

God cares about art.  He cares about it so much that the first person Scripture records as having been filled with the Spirit of God for a task was a man appointed to the duty of outfitting the tabernacle of God.  From the beginning, art, the creation of truly beautiful things, has been designated for the singular purpose of glorifying God in worship.

The Arts Academy of New Hope Baptist Church was born out of that same desire to rightly magnify the name of Jesus Christ in all things, including the arts in all their various forms.  For too long the world has held captive the art forms that were originally used by the people of God to praise God.

The aim of the Arts Academy is best described by its mission statement:

The mission of the New Hope Arts Academy is to glorify God through the arts by reclaiming from the world those art forms for the church.
